Old, Selfish, Racist Indians
The headlines in the Australian newspaper Herald Sun screamed- “India old and selfish………”
Gloryfying the magnanimous Greg Chappell it says -“Despite the disillusionment and the many frustrations, he is still trying to help a nation in which cricket is treated like a religion (a big favour indeed. What will India do without you Mr Greg Chappell).
The newspaper says- “The unhappy — even poisonous — nature of their relationship is revealed in Guru Greg, a candid and absorbing documentary about Chappell’s incumbency which will be aired on ABC TV.” In that documentary Greg says and I quote- “From an Indian cultural point of view, if you do someone a favour then they owe you for life” (and Indians are accused of being racist). Greg accused Ganguly of expecting him to toe his line after being instrumental in getting the coach’s job. Greg Chappell was sure that the team’s World Cup campaign would end in disaster as it was a “flawed group” without any youngsters (and you’re telling us now?). He claims that the fan-assault on him in Orissa was a racist attack and the incident convinced him to not renew his contract with the BCCI (good morning Mr Chappell, monkey calls aimed at Andrew Symonds brought you out of hibernation).
Now of course Greg Chappell wants to downplay his comments which were made at an “emotional time”. He says - “It’s old news. It was a very emotional time when I made these remarks. It’s a long way back and I’d like to talk about other things now. I am looking forward to being involved with the Rajasthan Cricket Academy for the next three years” (you’re so forgiving Mr Chappell! Ready to help the racist and selfish Indians once again. We owe you for life.)

Sensationalization sells for sure
That said, we Indians do drape a holier-than-thou attitude, may not be in this story though.
Don’t you agree Priyank that Greg is abusing our intellect. I am not a great supporter of the selectors but after nearly an year telling us that he knew India will lose! Where was he then? Why didn’t he resign? Ready to be back in India even after racial abuse? Doesn’t look like charity to me.

It’s an Aus news paper and such comments are but obvious.
But I dunno why we behave in way that we need this guy desperately…Why do we need him dammit !
Are Indian coaches extinct ?
He has proved us wrong Anoop. We don’t need him. As far as foreign coaches are concerned John Wright wasn’t bad at all.
A newspaper is suposed to be objective and unbiased but Australian Press seems to be always pro Australia and anti subcontinent.
Welcome Anoop.

Chappell suffers from chronic-foot-in the mouth disease.
Niranjan Shah pales in comparison.
I agree with you. Welcome ottayan.

All you’s let me tell you all something. You sack Greg as a coach then use his idea of injecting young blood in the team and then win the T20 world cup.
Grapes are always sour arent they?
All you people do is just complain complain complain.

Why do people think that getting younger people was NEW Idea of Great Greig. Indian team never had younger players. Sachin started playing for India at the age of 17 years on the advice of Great …..

Let me add to what Rakesh said.Greg Chappel should have a copyright on this new idea.Whichever team adds young players in their team should pay royalty to Greg Chappel. What sour grapes Gray? We won T-20 and that is the truth. This complain game was started by the Australians- Murli chucks, Symonds faces racism in India, Bhajji accused of racism and he chucks too.The list is endless.

Greg Chappell is back in India with an RCA job just for the MONEY. Anything he says about helping Indian cricket is bull shit. His assistant Ian Frazer is NOT a qualified bio-mechanist, sports scientist or cricket coach. They could find a job in Australia and they are here to make a living. India was winning even without a coach. Idea of injecting young blood…ha ha…do people really believe that only Greg could think of this? GC is just pulling the wool over the eyes of people as usual.
