My favourite TV News Anchors………
There are serious isuues to be debated when it comes to our electronic media. When we were young our parents always encouraged us to watch the news. I don’t think it is a very good idea now. We should clearly specify which news channel we would like them to watch. Crime reporter should be somebody who has some knowledge of law and is trained to be investigative journalist. This is not the norm anymore. On Star news the anchor of ‘Sansani’ looks more dangerous than the criminals. Same is true about the Zee News Crime reporter. Channels like India TV incorporate sex is into every story possible. What is this?
I would like to mention some anchors and reporters who are doing an excellent job. I am really proud that these Indian journalists are as good as the best in the world. To name a few-
Barkha Dutt-NDTV ( excellent war time covering during the Kargill war). All the programmes that she anchors are worth watching;you don’t mind watching the repeat telecast because she is anchoring it. My mother once said- any mother would be proud to have a daughter like her.
Rajdeep Sardesai- CNN-IBN- very very objective. He raises the bar for news anchoring. He was fearless while covering the Gujarat riots. I like his election coverage also.
Pankaj Pachori- NDTV India- one Hindi channel not involved in yellow journalism. One of those few anchors who have made Hindi news reporting interesting.
Kamal Khan- this reporter of NDTV India is a pleasure to hear and watch. Excellent control over Hindi and Urdu. I don’t know if he writes himself, but the content of his reports is amazing. Never mind the topic, he makes everything so intersting.

For the last 6 years, I haven’t watched TV. Everyone in the hostel wants to watch different channels. I keep out.

I had an experience to watch Barkha in the special independence day program. Is she this annoying every time or did she woke up on the wrong side of the bed that morning. Because she was trying to put her words in the mouth of her guests.
Maybe its the style ie common there because I think an anchor person should also listen to the point of view that he/she disagrees with.

//the anchor of ‘Sansani’ looks more dangerous than the criminals//
Ha ha ha!!!
Of course, no list would be complete for me without mentioning Karan Thapar.

I am surprised Ammar normally Barkha Dutt is a good listener. unfortunately I couldn’t watch that particular programme. That progarame had Dr Shahid Masood who is a person of strong opinions and other than him, there were other important guests too in the programme, I guessed that it would have been an interesting programme to watch.
Mahendrap Karan Thapar is rude at times and that is why he is out of my list. He doesn’t let the guest finish his answer.

r u in love with ndtv and cnnibn ? they reak of political bias !
ndtv news quality is good only if u read between the lines
1. they are flawless newsreaders…and debaters and yes kamals shairi is good but thats it
2. very bad journalists as they think no end of themselves and are experts in all topics
ammar i second u abt barkha she is no different from rajdeep
3 on ndtv the journos best i like is nidhi kulpatti as she is most balanced and also some of the reporters on profit like Nikunj Dalmia etc are good
i prefer foreign news channels mostly France24 as i find their reporting very poignant and interesting

You are absolutely right Prax. I am in love with NDTV and CNN-IBN. I like NDTV profit as well and Nikunj Dalmia is good. I confess liking Kamal because of the language.
Among the foriegn channels I watch CNN and BBC. I find CNN biased. I don’t understand much French so can’t comment on that. I am addicted to BBC. Old habbits die hard. Most Hindi channels are useless. It hurts because I am a Hindi speaking person but it is all about yellow journalism.

Rajdeep Sardesai is more concerned with noisemaking stories and not newsmaking stories. Often he stirs issues in irrelevant areas just to cause more harm than good. Is he a news reporter or a news analyst? Its hard to do both, the former is really a objective job, the later isnt.

Oh aunty, it’s not the good boy thing. I don’t watch because I can’t watch at my leisure.

prerna
in india every channel is biased some to the party in power and some to regional parties - research V Karat and Mrs Basu to get ndtv s true affiliation.
infact most jnu educated people including historians and media folks are biased towards a lal salam
f24 is a french govt autonomous channel like the bbc
they have both french and english broadcasts on the net - go google
france24 unlike bbc(biased towards britain and pakistan) or cnn or most others is relatively biased only towards the french - so the world news they telecast is rather clear of bias as french are no more major players
Rajdeep the cathedral n foreign educated son of a cricketer and a times journalist is nothing compared to his wife , the daughter of an ex dd honcho - she is one of the worst
ever media persons

kamaal khan is the best hindi tv reporter.

Rajdeep Sardesai is hardly objective! He is one of the most opinionated guy and just cant get it when the other person wants to give his viewpoint. He is a victim of his own thoughts.
Barkha Dutt.. there is some debate whether Barkha did justice to the war time coverage.. some of that was faked.. and not the first hand account anyways.. worse some say it was manipulated as well!
To me, NDTV is a leftist mouthpiece and they do not deserve to be rated anywhere in the top guys.
In my book, Rini Simon (khanna); Ramu Damodaran; Neethi Ravindaran, Salma S (??) - for Hindi.. still remain the tops always.
