There are serious issues to be debated when it comes to our electronic media. When we were young our parents always encouraged us to watch the news. I don’t think it is a very good idea now. We should clearly specify which news channel we would like them to watch. Crime reporter should be somebody who has some knowledge of law and is trained to be investigative journalist. This is not the norm anymore. On Star news the anchor of ‘Sansani’ looks more dangerous than the criminals. Same is true about the Zee News Crime reporter. Channels like India TV incorporate sex is into every story possible. What is this?
I would like to mention some anchors and reporters who are doing an excellent job. I am really proud that these Indian journalists are as good as the best in the world. To name a few-
Barkha Dutt-NDTV ( excellent war time covering during the Kargill war). All the programmes that she anchors are worth watching;you don’t mind watching the repeat telecast because she is anchoring it. My mother once said- any mother would be proud to have a daughter like her.
Rajdeep Sardesai- CNN-IBN- very very objective. He raises the bar for news anchoring. He was fearless while covering the Gujarat riots. I like his election coverage also.
Pankaj Pachori- NDTV India- one Hindi channel not involved in yellow journalism. One of those few anchors who have made Hindi news reporting interesting.
Kamal Khan- this reporter of NDTV India is a pleasure to hear and watch. Excellent control over Hindi and Urdu. I don’t know if he writes himself, but the content of his reports is amazing. Never mind the topic, he makes everything so interesting.

I had an experience to watch Barkha in the special independence day program. Is she this annoying every time or did she woke up on the wrong side of the bed that morning. Because she was trying to put her words in the mouth of her guests.
Maybe its the style ie common there because I think an anchor person should also listen to the point of view that he/she disagrees with.
Ms Barkha seems to have developed a great ego which is seen from her body language. You will agree that the line between great confidence and egoistic talks and write ups.

Ido admire thier capability as anchor which u have mentioned…but u cant exclude Vinod dua..i think he in his own class,really different and good commend on HINDI langauge.
I am surprised Ammar normally Barkha Dutt is a good listener. unfortunately I couldn’t watch that particular programme. That progarame had Dr Shahid Masood who is a person of strong opinions and other than him, there were other important guests too in the programme, I guessed that it would have been an interesting programme to watch.
Mahendrap Karan Thapar is rude at times and that is why he is out of my list. He doesn’t let the guest finish his answer.

Among the foriegn channels I watch CNN and BBC. I find CNN biased. I don’t understand much French so can’t comment on that. I am addicted to BBC. Old habbits die hard. Most Hindi channels are useless. It hurts because I am a Hindi speaking person but it is all about yellow journalism.
Rajdeep Sardesai is more concerned with noisemaking stories and not newsmaking stories. Often he stirs issues in irrelevant areas just to cause more harm than good. Is he a news reporter or a news analyst? Its hard to do both, the former is really a objective job, the later isnt.

they have both french and english broadcasts on the net – go google
france24 unlike bbc(biased towards britain and pakistan) or cnn or most others is relatively biased only towards the french – so the world news they telecast is rather clear of bias as french are no more major players

Rajdeep Sardesai is hardly objective! He is one of the most opinionated guy and just cant get it when the other person wants to give his viewpoint. He is a victim of his own thoughts.
Barkha Dutt.. there is some debate whether Barkha did justice to the war time coverage.. some of that was faked.. and not the first hand account anyways.. worse some say it was manipulated as well!

Good news anchors are a rarity now….most of them speak in over dramatic voices..just now I saw star plus covering the Aarushi murder case and when he was saying “India’s number one murder mystery” it was sounding like he was selling some product. Also most of them use Hinglish in reporting like “theoriya” (theories) !!!!! I wonder have they really done course in journalism or not? One weather reporter on NDTV was speaking errr errr err after every sentence!!

When it comes to objectivity in media very few journalists abide by this fundamental requisite.
I think, every news channel, like newspapers, are affiliated to political parties, their news analysis has hidden agendas which is unperceivable by a common man.
However, amidst this yellow journalism age in Indian media, very few have been able to retain the true journalistic flavour.
Rajdeep- okay but sometimes he does blow things out of proportions.
Barkha-any adjective won’t be able to match her grandeur in journalism.

NDTV is the Robert Frost in context to the Indian NEWS channel. When others are busy catering sex and masala as NEWS they really have taken the road less travelled by Indian NEWS channels. Usage of ornamental language especially by Kamaal Khan and presenting NEWS simple and straight makes them numero uno in India.
What about Arnab, Mark Lynn?
I think, rather assures you that Niharika Chugh is undoubtely the best news reader in Times Now. Her fluency & command on english language makes her really perfectly matched candidate for delivering news. really hats off to Niharika Chugh for delivering zero error news and be perfect on all the occassions. It seems all of you are wasting your time in selecting your favourite anchors. The only international class anchor I see in India is Rukmani Vishwanath, that most graceful, charming and beautiful lady, who knows a thing or two about news anchoring. She seems to the only one currently who is putting feeling behind her anchoring if you know what I mean. She emotes extremely well, is excellent in her diction, and command over English langauge, never shys away from the camera, has a commanding presence, andher questions are always pertinent and well researched. I think no one can hold a candle to her from among the current anchors in Indian TV

Is it true that the idiot Arnab Goswami of Times Now is an autocratic dictator type of editor, who is brutal and insulting of all his anchors and reporters, is extremely abusive , uses filthy language all the time and keeps screaming constantly at every body in the Times Now office? Whats gone wrong with the Times Now management that they have to put up with such hypocritical humbug editors who preach some thing on their channel during Newshour, and do something else altogether in reality? Apparently an atmosphere of complete fear and uncertaintly prevails among all the staff of Times Now, due to Arnab’s crazy and abusive ways. No wonder some of the best anchors have quit the channel and found immediate takers in other channels.

Biography
Rajdeep Sardesai was born in Ahmedabad, Gujarat in a Gowda Saraswath Brahmin family, to a Goan father, the former Indian Test cricketer Dilip Sardesai, and a Maharashtrian mother, Nandini Sardesai, an activist in Mumbai and former head of the Department of Sociology at St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai.
Education
He attended the Cathedral and John Connon School and Campion School in Mumbai and completed a bachelor’s course in Economics from St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai. He then went to University College, Oxford, taking the degrees of Bachelor of Arts, Master of Arts, and Bachelor of Civil Law.[1]
Career
Rajdeep Sardesai entered television journalism in 1994 as Political Editor, New Delhi Television (NDTV.) He was particularly recognised for his coverage of the Gujarat riots. He later quit NDTV to start his own company, Global Broadcast News (GBN) in collaboration with the American giant CNN and Raghav Bahl’s TV18. The latter broadcasts the Indian Edition of CNBC called CNBC-TV18, the Hindi consumer channel, CNBC Awaaz and an international channel, SAW. The new channel with Sardesai as the Editor-in-Chief has been named CNN-IBN. It went on air on 17 December 2005. Channel 7 has also come under this umbrella after Sardesai’s company bought a 46 percent stake in the channel. Channel 7 has since been renamed IBN-7.

But the value of knowing about the topic is not worth now a days coz everyone is interested in entertainment. what you said about the “SANSANI” program anchor is Hundred percent right, but even when i watch the program i don’t take the program seriously, Instead I just want to see the anchor the way in which he hosts and that’s all for a entertainment.
