Ramgopal Varma ki Aag
Rajeev Masand of CNNIBN says-
Ramgopal Varma Ki Aag is actually a mockery of that timeless gem because it turns out to be everything that the original film was not - way-over-the-top, too-long-too-boring, and entirely mindless. Much-loved moments from Sholay are parodied by Varma and for that you want to wring his neck.
Khalid Mohommed one of the best known critics of Bollywood says-
“And so dear ladies and gentlemen, this Lifetime’s Worst Ever Movie Award goes to Ram Gopal Varma ki Aag, widely reported to be a remake of Sholay Jo Bhadke. The jury was unanimous.”
“Aag might work for teenagers who haven’t seen Sholay but for those of us who’ve savored the original film not once but ten, twenty, thirty times, RGV Ki Aag is an exercise in futility.”- Says the movie critic of NDTV
I won’t like to waste money and time on the movie after such great reviews. If anybody has better opinion about the movie please inform.

I agree. Everything cannot be cast into a new wrapping and presented successfully. For the same reason I didnt watch Colour Mughal-e-Azam ’cause I think B/W contributes to the whole beauty as well for this movie. This Aag thing will be like old gold covered in new age hi-tech crap.

I know we all are sentimental about the original SHOLAY. But its very brave of RGV that he attempted this task and came up with a more darker version. It wont be funny like the original one, but it will have brillian camera work n action/suspense. I know the cast is quite fazool in comparison specially the BASANTI’S role is given to some porn star.
But I am going to watch the film with an open mind. If anyone expected or wanted the film to be exactly the same thn what was the need need of remaking it.

Having read stuff like “Sholay was a watershed, Aag is a washout” and “Ram Gopal Varma ki Ugghh!”, I gave away tickets I had booked for tomorrow. Sigh, no entertainment tomorrow!!

You are right @prax but when you make films in a “Factory”
it happens.
Ammar you are right it is a brave attempt. The comedy of the original Sholay cannot be duplicated. I have named my German Shepherds “Jai” and “Veeru” that shows how much I liked the original :).
Thanks Nita and Paul for your comments.
Try someother film rambodoc.
We will wait for your feed back Nitin.

Oemar in the original Mughal-e-azam there were two coloured reels and they were definely not the best scenes.I too liked the black and white version. I have seen the black and white version at least 10 times and can see it 10 times more.

AAg was such a crap that I do not understand that Big B, Adev and other stars have acted in such a crap….forget sholay. The remake of DON with SRK was an earnest effort with the modern twist>>fantastic job for DON..aag cannot even be compared with any flop movie of the past…such poor cinematography…a utter waste of money, time and talent…looks like these guys have lot of money to blow away in such CRAPPPPPY movies..shame on you RGV
