There is a sharp contrast between the first page and ‘Financial News’ page of the newspaper. The first page is so depressing. All the news is about killings, threats and different types of crimes whereas the economy everywhere is booming and there is good news everywhere.
Is it the same world we are talking about?

The ‘financial page’ prefers the booming news to the reality of the majority of the population. They prefer ‘India shining’.

Yes, the front page is depressing. The first thing I saw today morning was the news about two 5 year old girls being raped. I’ve felt like gagging since.
I don’t read the Financial news, but I’d imagine it can be fairly depressing for those who are and feel excluded from India Shining and Incredible India.
The newspaper can be a depressing thing to read these days. I am glad for a certain column that HT has been maintaining these days. Here they bring out stories of achievments, small stories of achievments from different parts of the country. Little triumphs, innovative designs, stories of genius, and most of these stories are from villages and places one has not heard of. It gives a good feeling

Thats how it is. Reality or dream..
Its your choice..whether to dwell on ‘Everything is nice and fine and we should be proud of us’ or the stark reality baring all its teeth out to make you feel ashamed of desperate measures people are taking to destroy people…

Thanks Sporadic and Lubz for your views.
Nobody can deny the disparity in the society. The problem is the rich and powerful are not doing enough for the society. The powerful ie the politicians and the Babus and their families are infact encouraging lawlessness either by not doing anything or by themselves indulging in crimes.
With the economy booming I am sure the fruits of development are bound to go down to the have nots and we will be able to enjoy reading the whole newspaper and not just bits and pieces.
