Everybody, everywhere is worried about the threat of terrorism. The world was never divided this way. The future of our chidlren is jeopardised. It is time to fix responsibilities. Who is to be blamed, the muslim world for producing these hardcore crimininals or the western world which encouraged and looked the other side when injustice was meted out to people all over the world. First in the clash between two super powers arms were supplied to different militias, then after the soviet debacle there is a complete control of Bush, his cronies and sycophants. Americans kept on supplying arms to extremists, dictators and autocrats all over the world till they were woken up by the tragic events of 9/11. After that carpet bombing of Afghanistan which can still be justified because Osama was there. How do you justify Iraq invasion? WMD, no where to be found. Saddam was a dictator and a tyrant and Iraq needed to be liberated but what about the other dictators that are being supported by Americans. Has the world become a safer place after the invasion? Osama is nowhere to be seen, intelligence reports suggest he is in Pakistan. Is Pakistan the next target of President Bush? America is threatened with terrorist attacks everyday after these two adventures. Who is going to help the Americans get rid of Bush? Saddam has been sentenced to death and he will be murdered sooner or later. I call it murder because if it was justice, Iraqis would have sentenced him not the puppets of USA. Who is going to provide justice to the people ruled by regimes which are autocratic and are supported by Bush adminstration? There are quite a few of them in the middle East. Musharaff is a trusted ally and he is a military ruler. Saudis are favoured and Iran is an exis of evil. This type of dual policy which suits western interests is not going to help anyone. UN is a puppet in American hands and is thus toothless. European countries are supporting Bush because they can’t dare go against the might of the sole super power and its economic prowress . Let us hope Americans get rid of the mindset that God made this world so that they can be served and make serious and genuine efforts to bridge the divide in the world. May God help save the world and give some sense to the powerfull.

Very emotional post but makes sense. hehe, I think the USA is a very scary place but I have some nice friends from there. I wonder what is going to happen with the so-called war on terror… hmmm. What are your views on terrorism in India?

Hello, Diana’s Mum!
Speaking as the father of four children (ages: 24, 19, 17, & 15), I commend you for a job-well-done with your daughter Diana. She is, in my estimation, one of the most insightful and gracious people I have encountered in the blogosphere.
I deeply appreciate your perspective in this post. When you write the following:

Let,s hope Americans get rid of the mindset that God made this world so that they can be served ,and make serious and genuine efforts to bridge the divide in the world.
***
…I believe you have spotlighted one of the biggest concerns of people throughout the world, even multiplied millions in America. I share your concern and join you in this prayer. May we all, especially those of us who are accustomed to power and privilege, learn to act justly, love mercy and walk humbly with God.
Blessings,
-bill

Hi again Auntie
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this.
Terrorism has been around for a long time in various forms but it used to be more localised. We are more aware of it now because we have news from all over the world coming to us pretty much instantly and the reach of terrorism has increased because its easy for terrorists to travel anywhere in the world and do what they do.
I think america likes to deal with dictatorships because they are easier to handle diplomatically than democracies. Democratic countries need to have votes before signing treaties and they change governements regularly which changes their polices etc, but in countries where 1 man runs the whole country there is consistancy. Its not a good thing but i think thats the reason.
I like what you say about bridging the divide. The is so many divides between people and I think everyone in the world has to make an effect to bridge them as much as they can.

thanx for your opinion.Last few years have really been bad for the civil socities of the world.I remember one thing I was really impressed by when I visited Australia in 1990 was that we could visit the Parliament house in Canberra without any permission required Airports were quite relaxed. On the contrary a couple of years ago the airport was a fortress.About bridging the divide I really mean it but everything takes time nothing can be done overnight.

i still don’t understand why Bush wanted to invade Iraq, it would be very stupdi to do it because of the oil, and Iraq was virtually the only non-islamic arab state. It’s also much of a shame that there is this good-evil policy.. Saudi Arabia is lead by people who were probably no better than Bush; Although he needs their oil, it is a big discredit to the united states to have “allies” which are no better than the “enemies” and who even stab us in the back. The american policy in the middle east is clearly not satisfactory to this day, and another problem is that the Unites States is virtually the only country that actually tries to do serious things against islamism and terrorism. the efficiency is very bad and quite often negative, which means it makes the situation even worse. Of course some may say “only the future will tell” yet to this day we await improvment!
I wish other countries put efforts against terrorism more seriously, because it is not an american problem , it’s everyone’s.

4th line was “Saddam” instead of “Bush” sorry about the misspelling (hehehe)

Raj,
terrorism isnt going to be defeated by counter-terrorism like Bush is doing. It has to be dealt with in patience and solidarity among people. In that respect I think a lot of countries *are* doing stuff, they’re just not as loud as America is. To fight a terrorist you have to show him that he cant affect you. But the sad truth is that terrorism works because it affects a lot of people. If today, the Lord forbid, somebody takes away a member of your family, you would be helpless and at their command. You would only just want your family back. And being in that situation, you would not want to bomb their country and deprive so many other people of their families.
The point of fighting terrorism is to save lives and that can only be achieved by showing respect for life I think.

i dont think islamic terrorism is as simple to solve as other forms of urban violence which can be found in many places of the world and dealt with rather easily when you try to understand the problem, and solve it (sometimes ther is no real will to make things actualyl go better) Here the solving is far more complexe

Hello Diana’s Mom. I found your site through Diana’s. She must make you proud. I have really benefited from many of her postings, just as I have from yours. I am Canadian and therefore caught somewhere in the middle of the terrorism ideology, that is on how to deal with it.
Your posting and the other comments are very informative and thought provoking, I thank you

Thanx for showing interest in the post.We in India were facing terrorism from a long time unfortunately it has engulfed the whole world now.Terrorists have to be rooted out but at the same time the causes of terrorism have to be taken care of.
